The 18 schools and 51 undergraduate programs that make up Jiangnan University provide courses in engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law, medicine, agriculture, the arts, and education. Over 11,000 part-time students and about 20,000 full-time undergraduates attend there for continuing education. Jiangnan University received permission to launch a modern distance education pilot project in July 2000 from China’s Ministry of Education. Over 45,000 students are enrolled in the School of Online Education right now. Furthermore, Jiangnan University hosts the Jiangnan-North American College and the School of International Education as part of its Chinese-foreign cooperation. In the areas of light industry technology and engineering, food science and engineering, control science and engineering, chemistry engineering and technology, and textile engineering, Jiangnan University has established five post-doctoral research stations. It has the authority to award doctoral degrees in 28 programs and master’s degrees in 58. At the moment, more than 7,500 master’s and doctorate candidates are enrolled in classes on campus.There are 1,668 members of the faculty team, comprising 1068 professors and associate professors. In addition, JU has twelve faculties supported by the Programs of 1,000 Global Experts and 1,000 Young Global Experts, one academician of the China Academy of Engineering, ten winners who achieved the full National Outstanding Youth Foundation and the honor of Cheung Kong Scholars, and more than one hundred professors and associate professors.
